This started out as a way to make light of GOP Senators who are under pressure to actually save the Obamacare subsidies as a way to end the government shutdown. But it evolves/devolves into how Trump is more interested in blowing up the east wing of the White House and building his ballroom.
I thought it would be interesting to overlay live footage of the east wing getting bulldozed with the cartoon Trump.
When I hear that sound it reminds me of money was nearly a direct quote from the President, as ridiculous as it sounds.
The whole thrust of the 2nd part of the video went into the “Let them eat cake” metaphor, which proved to be spot on as Trump was ready to go all the way to the Supreme Court to retain the right to withhold SNAP benefits to poor families. The Democrats caving on the shutdown ended this fiasco but imagine the President going all the way to the Supreme Court to cause more pain for poor families and children to go hungry, thereby allowing him to blame Democrats, even though the money is there and required by law to be spent on SNAP benefits.
I tried to marry Trump’s years ago quote about beautiful chocolate cake with the “Let Them Eat Cake” thing. Not sure it landed well, but still it shows Trump out of touch and only able to relate to the rich.
On the headline and sub-headline I tried to mimic The Onion with a ridiculous reference to the Marie Antoinette foundation and her signature phrase. Note there is no such foundation.
